Naked Britney Spears Ad Banned in Tokyo
A subway ad poster featuring a naked, pregnant Britney Spears won’t be showing up on trains anytime soon.
Reuters reports that the poster has been deemed “too stimulating” for youth and has been refused by the Tokyo Metro, even though Spears is covering her chest with her arms and crossing her legs at the knee.
The picture isn’t new to North American viewers — it appeared in the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar alongside a photo spread that garnered much press attention.
The picture is set to appear on the cover of the Japanese edition of the magazine in October.
However, a compromise was struck between Harper’s and the Tokyo Metro; the ad will still appear, but the picture will be masked below Spears’ elbow with accompanying text reading, “We apologize for hiding part of a beautiful image of a mother-to-be.”
