Hilary Duff Visiting New Orleans for Katrina Anniversary
Singer Hilary Duff will visit New Orleans on the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina to help victims.
Duff, 18, will be accompanied by the Chair of USA Harvest, Stan Curtis, on August 29, on this journey through schools and centers to help Katrina victims with food, and hopeful words.
“From day one, Hilary has been there to support our efforts to aid victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma. Through her contributions, over 2.5 million meals have been distributed through Salvation Army canteens. We look forward to our trip to revisit the remarkably resilient victims of the storms and share time with them as well as provide them with more food and supplies to ensure continued growth and recovery,” said Curtis, reports Access Hollywood.com.
Duff’s corporate partners are very involved as well, distributing their products to Katrina victims on her trip. Duff’s coporate partners Mattel and Hasbro provided toys and games for the children. Fashion Accessory Bazaar provided 600 backpacks and school supplies. Freedom Water provided 25,000 cases of Freedom Water to schools and workers and Freedom Energy drinks to shelters and workers.
Duff will be visiting several schools and speaking with the students at Nelson Charter School and Alice M. Harte Elementary School, while passing out water and serving lunch. She will also visit Edna Karr High School and meet and greet with the students, as well as sign autographs. Duff and Curtis will visit numerous rescue missons and recovery centres such as Just the Right Attitude and Salvation Army Disaster Recovery Center, serving food and handing out drinks.
