Usher will make his Broadway debut playing Billy Flynn in “Chicago.”

“He’s such a difficult character to hold on to, you basically want to get in and stick with it. So on a day-to-day basis, I’ve changed the way I talk, I’ve changed the way I walk, I’ve changed the way I deal with things, using a little method [acting]. I want to be the best lawyer ever, the best criminal lawyer in Chicago in that time period,” said Usher, reports MTV.

Usher has been getting some extra help from his godfather Ben Vereen, preparing him for Broadway. Vereen could be very helpful to Usher since he played Billy Flynn himself in the Las Vegas production of “Chicago.”

Usher has even got a New York apartment while he is doing Broadway. He is focusing on making the play his best performance ever because Broadway is nothing to be joking about.

“Broadway is no joke. I’m getting up early every day at 8 a.m., and I usually wake up after 12. I can’t say I’ve ever held a schedule like that in my life! It takes a lot to give 120 percent of yourself and do it again and again, for eight shows a week. It’s one of the most challenging things you can do,” said Usher.

Usher’s Broadway debut is set for August 22.

Along with Broadway on his mind, Usher is excited to release his new album next year.

“My eye is set on a successful label, Ush Records. It’s a priority for me. I hope to get back to the studio as soon as I’m done. Hopefully I can get that next album out,” he said, reports Spotlighting News.
