Rapper Busta Rhymes has been arrested in New York, after attacking a man who spit on his car on Saturday, according to reports.
Busta Rhymes, real name Trevor Smith, was on Randall’s Island performing at the AmsterJam Music Festival, promoting his new album called “The Big Bang.” It was that night a man spit on his car and was beaten by Rhymes, reports several outlets.
Rhymes tried to leave the area after being informed the police were after him, but was apprehended.
Rhymes was taken on a third-degree assault charge and was later released.
However, Rhymes and his camp feel that the charges against him were some form of revenge by the New York Police Department. They feel that he should have only received a desk appearance ticket, but wasn’t qualified because of the significance of the charge, reports New York Daily News.
Rhymes feels that the police were after him because he refused to be questioned in the February 5 shooting of his bodyguard Israel Ramirez.
Rhymes is due back in court on October 24th, 2006.
