Tom Waits Rescues Forgotten Songs
Tom Waits is set to release his first-ever collection of lost an forgotten songs spanning the length of his career.
Billboard reports that the 54-track, 3-disc collection, titled “Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards,” will hit store shelves on November 21. It will also include a 94-page booklet.
The set is divided into three sections — Brawlers, Bawlers, and Bastards — with each showcasing a particular aspect of Waits’ style (bluesy material, ballads/waltzes, and experimental tracks).
Of the 54 songs included, 30 are new recordings, ensuring that even the most devoted Waits fan will have much new ground to explore.
According to Waits himself, the collection is comprised of “songs of dubious origin rescued from cruel fate and now left wanting only to be cared for. Show that you are not afraid and take them home. They don’t bite, they just need attention.”
