Justin Timberlake has made some discouraging remarks against latest “American Idol” winner, E! Online reports.

In a special issue of Vogue magazine called Fashion Rocks, the former ‘N Sync member said that Taylor Hicks was “the guy who won – people think he looks so normal, and he’s so sweet, and he’s so earnest, but he can’t carry a tune in a bucket.”

“If he has any skeletons whatsoever, if God forbid, he’s gay, and all these people in Mississippi who voted for him are like, ‘Oh, my God, I voted for a queer!’” Timberlake also said.

Timberlake’s publicist said that the singer’s comments were taken out of context, and that he did not mean any harm to Hicks by them.

“He has great affection for anyone who puts himself out there,” Timberlake’s publicist, Ken Sunshine, said.
