Barry Manilow has had to cancel his remaining concerts in Las Vegas because he has to have surgery on his hip, the Associated Press reports.

The surgery will replace cartilage in the singer’s hips, which is needed because he suffers from labrum tears in his hips, which is exacerbated due to his high energy performances.

Originally, Manilow was going to continue performing until after his scheduled performance at the Emmy Awards, but he said that things have gotten too painful, so he had to have the surgery sooner.

He will still appear at the Emmys, his publicist says. It is expected due to the eight weeks of recovery needed that Manilow will miss nearly 20 appearances at the Hilton.

Manilow will return to performing at the Las Vegas hotel in October, and the missed concerts will be rescheduled for 2007.
