Gibson Pleads No Contest and is Sentenced
And the Mel Gibson saga continues.
CBC Arts reports that Gibson pleaded no contest to the drunk driving charges he received last month.
The Hollywood star was sentenced to three years probation, fined $1,300, had his driver’s license revoked for 90 days and was ordered to enter into an alcohol-abuse treatment program.
The judge also mandated that not only is Gibson to enroll in a three month alcohol treatment program, but he is also to attend Alcoholic Anonymous meetings for one year. Gibson told the court he was enrolling in rehab right away.
Gibson was not present in court himself, but rather delivered his plea through his attorney. The actor said he would also do pubic service announcements on the dangers of drinking and driving.
The other two charges against him – having an elevated blood alcohol level and having an open bottle of liquor in his car – were dropped.
