He may be the newest James Bond, but Daniel Craig says he is hated, even though his first Bond film has yet to be released, the Associated Press reports.

“If I went onto the Internet and started looking at what some people were saying about me — which, sadly, I have done — it would drive me insane. They hate me. They don’t think I’m right for the role. It’s as simple as that. They’re passionate about it, which I understand, but I do wish they’d reserve judgment,” the actor says in this week’s Entertainment Weekly.

There’s a fan website protesting the fact that Craig has replaced Pierce Brosnan in the films, it is also calling for Bond fans to protest the film. The address? http://www.craignotbond.com.

Craig says he felt odd uttering the trademark Bond phrase, “the name is Bond. James Bond.” And that he decided to take the character in a new direction after watching how he had been played by different actors over the years.
