Tom Cruise has suffered a pay cut.

Cruise’s current contract with Paramount allows the actor to receive $10 million dollars to support his production company, Cruise/Wagner Productions, in exchange for their choice of any of his films. The 13-year contract is set to expire next month, but will not be renewed under the same conditions, thanks to the new head of Paramount Pictures, Brad Grey.

The new contract that has been offered consists of only $2 million dollars to be provided for Cruise/Wagner Productions. In addition, Cruise has to pay for all his needs with his own money.

According to Hollywood.com, Cruise’s lawyer Bertram Fields said, “We received an offer and we are digesting it. We will sit and talk about it. It is not the case that they said this is a take-it-or leave-it-offer. I don’t think my friends at Paramount would ever talk that way.”

Janet Hill, spokeswoman for Paramount Pictures said, “We have the utmost respect for Tom Cruise and Cruise/Wagner Productions. We are currently in discussions to renew their deal.”

Until the discussions of his contract are resolved, many Cruise films are being put on hold.
