Blur’s Damon Albarn Forms New Band
Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn has formed a new band with former Clash bassist Paul Simonon and ex-Verve guitarist Simon Tong.
According to the BBC, the group (rounded out by drummer Tony Allen), has not yet been named, but has been in the studio.
Their first single is due to be released in October, followed by a full-length effort in January. The album has been titled “The Good, The Bad and The Queen.”
The band is also expected to make their on-stage debut in October. No details about the concert(s) have been announced.
Albarn has also beenworking on a stage musical about London’s Notting Hill neighbourhood in recent months. The project is a collaboration with award-winning playwright Roy Williams, and is set to open in London next year.
