After nearly five years of marriage, Prince and Toronto-native Manuela Testolini are divorcing.

According to People magazine, Prince’s lawyer, Alan Eidsness, said a sealed divorce action was filed on May 24 in a Minnesota court (the musician’s home state).

Prince (full name: Prince Rogers Nelson), 48, and the 29-year-old Testolini wed on New Year’s Eve 2001 in a Jehovah’s Witness ceremony in Hawaii. The couple met when Testolini worked at Prince’s charitable organization.

The singer’s first marriage was to Mayte Garcia, one of his back-up vocalists and dancers. Their marriage was brief and later annulled. Though they had one child together, the baby died shortly after birth. Prince and Testolini had no children together.
