Hepburn’s ‘Breakfast’ Dress Up for Auction
The classic black dress that Audrey Hepburn wore in 1961’s “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” will be sold off by Christie’s in December, the auctioneers announced on Wednesday. The selling price is estimated at between $90-130,000 US.
Reuters reports that the Givenchy-designed dress is being sold to benefit the City of Joy Aid charity, a group that assists underprivileged children in India.
The dress is lined up to be the star attraction at this year’s film and entertainment sale, held annually by Christie’s in London, UK.
Hepburn wore the dress in the opening scene of the film, in which her character (Holly Golightly) exits a cab on New York’s 5th Avenue in the early morning and peers into Tiffany’s jewelry shop while eating breakfast out of a paper bag.
