‘Like A Prayer’ Tops Groundbreaking Videos List
The video for “Like a Prayer” by Madonna tops MTV’s UK list for the top groundbreaking videos of all time, Reuters reports.
The video came under condemnation from Catholics when it was released due to its religious content, for Madonna seducing a black Jesus and it’s depiction of stigmata.
“…Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears was number two, with Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” in at number three.
The rest of the top ten included “Ray of Light” and “Vogue” by Madonna at numbers four and five respectively, “Scream” by Michael and Janet Jackson, “Rock DJ” by Robbie Williams, “Call on Me” by Eric Prydz, “Virtual Insanity” by Jamiroquai and “Wannabe” by the Spice Girls.
The remaining 90 videos will be announced on Aug. 1, when the UK music channel plays all of them to mark its 25th anniversary.
