Canadian Idol eliminated the first member of its top 10 last night.

On Monday’s performance show, which was under the theme of Canada Rocks!, the Idol wannabes were coached by Canadian superstar Nelly Furtado.

On last night’s results show, the bottom three included Steffi D, Ashley Coulter and Kati Durst.

When asked if he was surprised by the revelation of the bottom three, judge Farley Flex said that due to the calibre of the top 10, each week until the final would be a surprise.

Steffi D was the first Idol proclaimed safe, followed by Ashley Coulter, meaning Kati Durst of Goderich was the first top 10 Idol sent home.

Next Monday the Idol hopefuls will perform tunes from the Rolling Stones for Rolling Stones night.
