Primal Scream Singer Hurt in Bar Fight
Bobby Gillespie, the frontman for Primal Scream, was assaulted in a hotel bar after a concert in Madrid on Friday.
According to his manager, Rab Andrew, the 42-year-old was able to perform in Barcelona the next night.
“He’s fine, back home, and sporting a couple of black eyes,” Andrew told the BBC, adding that he didn’t know the full extent of Gillespie’s injuries.
Though the band wasn’t thrown off their tour schedule by the incident, they were late for a taping of British show Top of the Pops. Doctors had advised Gillespie not to fly to London until Sunday afternoon, after their scheduled performance time.
“Top of the Pops were very understanding of the situation,” said Andrew.
Primal Scream is currently supporting their latest record, “Riot City Blues.”
