Simpson and Lachey’s Divorce Finalized
Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are officially divorced, the Associated Press reports.
According to papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday, the couple are now officially “restored to the status of single, unmarried persons.”
The couple married three years ago, and starred in their own hit reality show about being newlyweds. As Simpson’s fame grew bigger, the media began speculating the marriage was crumbling. The couple denied the reports.
Last December, Simpson filed for divorce. Under California law, a divorce cannot officially be settled until six months after the first filing. Since Simpson didn’t file until December 16, the couple had to wait until at least June 16 to finalize the proceedings.
Since the split, Lachey has released his second solo album, aptly titled “What’s Left of Me.” Simpson’s new single is entitled “Public Affair.”
