Jones ‘Forced Out’ Of The View?
Star Jones will be exiting “The View,” People.com reports.
Jones made the official announcement on Tuesday’s show, ending the speculation that has graced the tabloids ever since Rosie O?Donnell was announced as the replacement for Meredith Vieira who left “The View” to replace Katie Couric at NBC’s “Today Show.” O’Donnell has made public her criticism for Jones, particularily in Jones’ recent weight loss.
“Something’s been on my heart for a little bit, and after much prayer and counsel I feel like this is the right time to tell you that the show is moving in another direction for its tenth season and I will not be returning as co-host next year,” Jones said on the air, which prompted shocked looks and comments from her co-hosts.
Jones told People the reason she left “The View” was not because of O’Donnell’s arrival, but because her contract was not renewed by the show for the 10th season.
“What you don’t know is that my contract was not renewed for the tenth season. I feel like I was fired,” she tells People magazine, adding she was told her contract would not be renewed just days before O’Donnell was named Vieira?s replacement.
