Original Beach Boys Reunite
For the first time in 10 years, the surviving founding members of the Beach Boys have reunited in public.
Mike Love, Al Jardine and Brian Wilson came together on top of the Capitol Records building in Los Angeles on Tuesday, reports Reuters.
They gathered to accept double-platinum plaques marking U.S. sales in excess of 2 million copies for their 2003 compilation, “Sounds of Summer: The Very Best of the Beach Boys.”
The musicians were joined by Bruce Johnston, who became part of the group’s touring lineup in 1965.
Though the three original members haven’t performed together in many years, Wilson said “there’s a chance” of an onstage reunion in the future.
The two remaining founding members of the group, Wilson’s brothers Dennis and Carl, are both dead. Dennis drowned in 1983, while Carl died of cancer in 1998.
