The von Trapps To Perform in Stratford
One of the most famous last names in musical history will perform this summer at the Stratford Summer Music Festival.
Canadian Press reports that the von Trapp Family Singers will perform at the festival on Aug. 7, but not the ones you might remember from the 1965 Julie Andrews musical.
This generation of von Trapps are the great-grandchildren of Baron Georg Von Trapp (otherwise known as Captain von Trapp in the film), and the grandchildren of Wener von Trapp, otherwise known as Kurt to The Sound of Music lovers.
“In a season where we’re saluting one great Austrian figure – Mozart – it’s fun to be remembering that another renowned Austrian musical tradition is now the von Trapp family story,” John Miller, artistic director of Stratford Summer Music said in a news release.
The group will sing a number of classic, sacred and folk songs from America and Europe, as well as singing some of the hit songs from The Sound of Music. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.
