Despite telling GQ magazine last month that she had whittled her wealth of new songs down to a single-disc album, Christina Aguilera has reportedly changed her mind.

At the MTV Movie Awards on Saturday, Aguilera announced that her new album, “Back to Basics,” will feature two discs of original material.

“The first half is based upon working with more beat-driven producers and will use samples and things like that, and then the second disc is all me and Linda Perry,” Aguilera told MTV. Perry, ex-vocalist in 4 Non Blondes, worked previously with Aguilera on the hit song “Beautiful.”

The pop singer also said that her new album also draws musical inspiration from her favourite decades ? the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s ? “with elements of jazz, blues and soul music combined with a modern-day twist, like hard-hitting beats.”

The double-album is slated for an August 15th release.
