Roy Dupuis will portray Romeo Dallaire in the film adaptation of Dallaire’s memoir, “Shake Hands With the Devil,” which tells the story of the Rwandan genocide through Dallaire’s eyes, CTV reports.

Dupuis’ last role was Maurice Richard in “The Rocket,” which opened earlier this year. Shooting on the film will begin later this year, and it is expected to open late next year in both English and French.

Dallaire, who has criticized Nick Nolte’s portrayal of a character based on Dallaire in “Hotel Rwanda,” seems excited to see Dupuis take on the role.

“I am particularly honoured and humbled that an actor of the calibre of Roy Dupuis is willing to take on this mission,” he said at a news conference today.
