George Bush Hosts Movie Screening
U.S. President George W. Bush spent his Tuesday night hosting a White House screening of the 9/11 related film, “United 93,” Reuters reports.
“The president has always said that … the passengers and the crewmembers on the flight were heroes,” said White House spokesman Dana Perino.
The audience at the White House included Bush’s wife Laura as well as some family members of Flight 93 victims.
United Airlines Flight 93 was highjacked on 9/11 and crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after its passengers fought the terrorists. Many credit those on board from saving another target in the U.S., likely Capitol Hill in Washington, from being struck.
The film was the first movie based on the events of 9/11 to be released by Hollywood.
Oliver Stone’s latest film “World Trade Center”, is set to open in August. “United 93″ did not take in a lot from the box office but received critical acclaim.
It has not been reported yet what the president thought of the film.
