‘Survivor’ Winner Lied to Job
Former “Survivor” winner Chris Daugherty lied to get time off work to be part of a European promotional tour for the show. An investigation found that the 35-year-old Ohio resident filed a false request for time off due to stress and depression, reports the Associated Press.
Daugherty, who won “Survivor: Vanuatu,” returned to his job as a highway worker with the Ohio Department of Transportation after winning the $1 million US prize. He could face penalties ranging from reprimand to dismissal for the false claim, according to ODOT spokesman Andrew Gall.
Apparently, Daugherty’s initial requests for time off were denied. But he then submitted a false doctor’s note saying he was suffering from anxiety and depression and required a month’s leave.
“Daugherty’s claim that he had an illness which just happened to coincide with his ‘Survivor’ tour is simply not credible,” wrote Les Reel, ODOT’s chief investigator.
