Elvis Inspires New Cirque du Soleil Shows
Something tells me Elvis wasn?t much for gymnastics in his latter years. Nevertheless, Cirque du Soleil has revealed plans to produce a number of shows based on the King of Rock ?n? Roll, reports Reuters.
The venture, called the ?Elvis Presley Projects,? is a joint effort between Cirque and CKX Inc., a company that owns rights to Presley’s name, likeness and music publishing.
CKX Chairman Robert Sillerman said an Elvis Presley character might be part of the shows, which will also include ?original recordings and new performances? of Presley’s music.
Performances of the new show are slated to begin in 2008. The Elvis production will become part of Montreal-based Cirque du Soleil?s 13-show repertoire.
