Steve Carell sprained his ankle while filming a scene for his upcoming film ?Evan Almighty? on the weekend.

The film is a sequel to the Jim Carrey film ?Bruce Almighty? but Carrey is not in the second film. Instead it centers around Carell?s character and Bruce?s co-worker, Evan. Evan is visited by God and told he must build an ark.

The film is expected to be released in 2007.

Carell was not seriously injured and was in New York to promote his television show, ?The Office,? on Monday.

Shooting on the film continued on Tuesday.
