Hippies Dominate ‘Amazing Race’
The ninth season of CBS? The Amazing Race came to a close Wednesday night as bearded buds BJ Averell and Tyler Macniven took the $1 million prize.
The race returned to its starting line ? Colorado?s Red Rocks Amphitheatre ? for a final challenge that saw ?hippies? BJ and Tyler square off against the ?frat boys,? Jeremy Ryan and Eric Sanchez.
A member from each team ? BJ and Eric were chosen ? had to scurry across a field of flags, selecting the banners of all nine countries visited in the race and placing them in the correct order. The frat boys had a jump on the hippies, who were a few minutes behind. But Eric made numerous mistakes, while BJ caught up, stumbling only on the Russian flag. The hippies dashed to the finish line first while Eric and Jeremy were left scratching their heads.
When asked by host Phil Keoghan if they?d keep their beards after winning the prize money, Tyler exclaimed happily, ?If it’s this successful to be hippies, we might as well stay hippies.?
Ray Whitty and Yolanda Brown-Moore finished in a distant third. Sadly, self-proclaimed geeks and best-team-ever Dave Spiker and Lori Willems came in seventh.
