It’s almost like the NBA trade deadline of year’s past, where everyone was going everywhere. Follow closely:

Katie Couric’s contract with team NBC (she was playing for The Today Show) is just about up and she’s heading over to CBS, where she will anchor the Evening News. (It’s sort of like when Tracy McGrady left behind max money with the Raptors, refusing to deal with them, and signing with the Orlando Magic.)

Meredith Vieira has asked for a trade from ABC’s The View, and was granted a release. She will replace Couric over at NBC’s morning show. (This is like when Shaq wanted out of Los Angeles and was granted a trade to Miami.)

And now comes word that Rosie O’Donnell, the former talk show host, is coming out of retirement, just like Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson, and will replace Vieira on The View. (Don’t they already have Star Jones? Too Low? Sorry.)

Extra first reported the signing on Thursday, and it is expected to be officially announced on Friday’s show or by executives at a news conference later in the day.

O’Donnell quit her immensely popular and beloved daytime talk show in 2002, around the same time she announced she was a lesbian, begging the question, can both straight and lesbian women love Tom Cruise? She decided to spend more time with her adopted children and partner.
