Jessica and Ashlee Simpson are the “big name” special guests for Wednesday night’s Australian MTV Video Music Awards.

Ashlee, 21, is also taking on the hosting duties for the event, while Jessica arrived in Australia early this week as a last minute addition to the show.

“I’m so excited. It’s been so long since I’ve been here,” Jessica, 25, said.

Ashlee and Jessica arrived in Australia with makeup artist, Mary Phillips, and hairstylist, Ken Paves, in tow.

“I know the girls so well that I am really fast,” said Paves, who has worked with the Simpson sisters for eight years and says he can finish off their coifs in 30 minutes.

“Honestly, I can get the girls hair ready in less than a half hour and they’re so beautiful, they’re not high maintenance divas.”

Phillips says that while the girls will have similar ‘dos, each has their own unique style.

“Ashlee is more rock and likes a harder, smokey eye,” said Phillips.

“Jessica is the modern day Brigitte Bardot and Ashlee is like the modern day Deborah Harry.”

The AVMAs will take place at the Sydney SuperDome and will be broadcast in 44 countries around the world.
