Mathew Knowles, Sanctuary Split
Music World, the record label owned by Matthew Knowles, father of Beyonce, is no longer affiliated with Sanctuary Records.
Knowles, who manages Destiny’s Child, and Sanctuary teamed up about two years ago to promote and distribute music from artists like Michelle Williams, Ray J and Glenn Lewis (though the Canadian R&B singer’s album was never released, and he left the label about a year ago).
“The parties have come to a mutual agreement to part ways,” Music World said in a statement. “As a result, Mathew regains ownership of his companies.”
“The final paperwork will be done later this month and details of the deal will be made public.”
The initial deal was complicated?Sanctuary and Knowles already had a partnership, and then he set up a further deal to include Music World. But the details don’t matter now, since the two are severing all ties.
