Martha Wanted to Fire The Donald
Martha Stewart blames the demise of her reality show on Donald Trump. But no hard feelings, Donald.
E!Online reports that Stewart told Newsweek that The Apprentice: Martha Stewart, which was cancelled in December, was supposed to premiere with her firing Trump.
“If I’d had my druthers,” she said, “there would have been only one Apprentice on the air at one time. The franchise, I think, should only be one show. It shouldn’t be two shows. Having two Apprentices was as unfair to him as it was unfair to me. But Donald really wanted to stay on.”
Producer Mark Burnett admitted that dumping Trump was considered, but: “Thank God that didn’t happen.”
“I wish she would be able to take responsibility for her failure,” Trump retorted in an interview with the Associated Press. He said Stewart’s version of the show lacked the right tone and demeanour.
However, Stewart said that she has no regrets whatsoever. “I got exactly what I wanted out of it. Would I have loved it to be a runaway, giant hit? Of course. But what it was, was very good for us.”
She claims her relationship with Trump remains “excellent,” saying that, “Donald will be and say whatever the Donald wants to be and say.”
Stewart is now focusing on her struggling talk show (”I think that syndication will improve in the second season”) and continuing her crusade to take over the world with her mini-mansion “Marthavilles.”
