Pink Panther Takes a Bite Out of the Box Office
The Pink Panther pounced all over the competition to become No. 1 film this weekend, grossing a modest U.S.$21.7 million.
The film, which stars Steve Martin, Beyonce Knowles and Kevin Kline, was hardly a box office smash, but Sony was happy with its earnings considering it faced competition from three “new films entering the marketplace, a paralyzing blizzard on the East Coast and the highly anticipated kick-off of the Winter Olympics.”
Final Destination 3 came in second place with U.S.$20.1 million, while the film adaptation of the Curious George books swung into third place U.S.$15.3 million.
Harrison Ford?s Firewall, the last movie to debut this week, came in fourth with U.S.$13.8 million.
