“Brokeback Mountain,” the critically acclaimed film about two gay cowboys who fall in love, swept the Golden Globe Awards Monday night.
The movie, starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, took home four awards including best drama, best director for Ang Lee, best screenplay and and best original song.
The movie’s wins at the Golden Globes will make “Brokeback Mountain” even more of a favourite to win at the upcoming Academy Awards in March.
Another big winner at the 63rd annual awards ceremony in Beverly Hills this week was “Walk The Line,” the Johnny Cash biopic starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. The film nabbed three awards, including best musical or comedy. Phoenix earned the Best Performance by an Actor in a Musical or Comedy award for his portrayal of music legend Johnny Cash while Witherspoon won Best Actress in the same category for her role as June Carter Cash.
In the TV categories, the winners’ list looks more diverse, with “Lost,” “House,” and “Desperate Housewives” walking away with one award each.
