Variety reports that David Fincher, the director of such dark and existential films as Se7en and Fight Club, will helm a movie about a series of killings called the “torso murders.”

The Paramount project is based on a graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andreyko. The screenplay will be written by Ehren Kruger (The Ring).

The story’s main character is real-life federal agent Eliot Ness. After Ness closes the Al Capone case in Chicago, he goes to Cleveland to help a city terrorized by the brutal deaths.
