What has long been rumoured has now been confirmed by People magazine – superstar Angelina Jolie is indeed expecting a child with her Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-star Brad Pitt.

According to a report on the People magazine website, representatives of both actors have confirmed the pregnancy, but they do not identify the stars by name.

People quoted Jolie as telling a charity aid worker on Monday, “Yes, I’m pregnant.” She was in the Dominican Republic filming “The Good Shepherd” with Matt Damon.

Last month, Pitt filed to become the adoptive father to Jolie’s four-year-old son Maddox, adopted from Cambodia, and one-year-old daughter Zahara, adopted from Ethiopia. Jolie then sought to change their names to Zahara Jolie-Pitt and Maddox Jolie-Pitt.

The pregnancy news comes a year after Pitt and actress Jennifer Aniston announced their separation. They divorced in October.

Buzz has been that Jolie, 30, was the reason for the breakup but Pitt and Jolie have been careful not to officially acknowledge their relationship in the media.
