Wisteria Lane Cleans Up for China
A tidied-up version of Desperate Housewives debuted Monday in China on state-operated TV.
With select scenes of sex and violence eliminated by censors, the entire first season is set to be aired in seven days with three episodes a night on CCTV8.
The first episode ran three minutes shorter than it did overseas. A crime scene was trimmed and a racy love scene played out on a dining table was cut all together.
Chinese broadcasters were permitted to edit the show according to distributor Buena Vista International?s regulations.
Buena Vista marketing co-ordinator Carolyn So says that China?s changes were ?minor?.
