Eminem Sizzles, Lohan Fizzles on Album Chart
Eminem is back at the top of the album charts. His latest, “Curtain Call,” debuted at number one this week, selling over 400,000 copies.
Some fans who realized that they already owned most of the songs on the album, since it’s a greatest hits album, didn’t buy it. His last album debuted at number one and sold over 700,000 copies in its first week, going on to sell 4.8 million copies.
But 400,000 for a collection of old tracks is damn good.
Another big release, Korn’s “See you on the Other Side,” debuted at number three, just below Lil’ Wayne’s “Tha Carter 11.”
The twentieth installment of “Now That’s What I Call Music” and Carrie Underwood’s “Some Hearts” round out the top 5.
So where did Lindsay Lohan’s latest album debut? Scroll down? keep scrolling? oh there it is. Number 20. Selling about 80,000 copies, “A Little More Personal” (not too personal, just a bit) is a bust.
And perhaps the most impressive feat: Kelly Clarkson is still high on the charts. Her album was released in November of last year and this week it’s at number 11, selling another 100,000 copies. Consider this: artists make about $1 off every album. She has been selling over 100,000 copies every week for the past year. Major coinage.
Big releases coming out this week include albums from Bo Bice? actually that’s about it.
