Cinderella Man is heartwarming, has an uplifting story, and has a solid cast. Too bad nobody saw it.

Russell Crowe stars as James J. Braddock, the real life boxer from the depression. His boxing career appears to be coming to an abrupt end just as he is in need of money to support his family. At the risk of not being able to afford to keep his children, he makes a return to the boxing world. This time, he has the whole community on his back, seeing his winning as the only encouragement in their lives.

Crowe is great, considering the tabloids paint him as the complete opposite person in real life. Ren?e Zellweger plays his wife convincingly. But even with those two A-listers, the man who steals every scene he is in is Paul Giamatti, who plays Braddock’s manager. He adds a bit of humour to an otherwise far-from-funny film.

If you have a lot of time, the features are some of the best that can be seen on a DVD. There is a lot of time spent talking about the history of Braddock and the depression, which is a perfect addition to the DVD.
