War Movies Are All the Rage
Hollywood is moving the Middle East from primetime news to the big screen.
John Singleton is in talks to direct Convoy, an action-adventure set in Afghanistan, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The Oscar-nominated director will lead the convoy in question for Paramount Pictures. The movie is about a group of American truck drivers who drive goods for a year through the Afghan war zone.
Singleton’s credits include Four Brothers and Boyz N the Hood.
Meanwhile, Comingsoon.net reports that Samuel L. Jackson will star alongside Eva Mendez in Home of the Brave.
The film deals with the issue of soldiers who return home from Iraq and try to resume a normal life. Jackson plays a doctor who was stationed in Iraq for several months. When he comes back to his eager wife, she discovers that the husband who went to war is not the same man who has returned.
Irwin Winkler (De-Lovely) will direct. Filming is scheduled for February in Washington and Morocco.
