If there was a course on cross-marketing for artists, Coldplay would teach it. Earlier this year, the UK band debuted their new single, ?Speed of Sound? as an exclusive ringtone for Cingular wireless. Now, the next single off their multi-platinum X&Y, ?Talk? will also get a jump start as a ringtone ? on tonight?s episode of CSI: NY.

As part of a cross-promotional scheme by CBS and Capitol Records, CSI: NY star Carmine Giovinazzo’s phone will sound to the tune of ?Talk? Wednesday night.

The call will be made to his character, detective Danny Messer, during a key scene. Then, CBS will run a message telling viewers how they can purchase the ringtone, which will be available for $2.49 exclusively through major wireless carriers. The tone will be accessible for one week; then it will be offered on CBS.com. The Realtone is an actual clip from the band?s original recording (as opposed to a tonal reproduction).

As if that?s not synergy enough, “Talk” will also be played in the background of a later scene in the same CSI: NY broadcast.
