Rock Hall of Fame Inductees Announced
Rock icons Black Sabbath and the Sex Pistols and jazz legend Miles Davis are among the 2006 class of inductees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The 21st Annual Induction Ceremony, to be held March 13 at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel, will also see New Wave outfit Blondie and Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd being inducted into the prestigious Rock Hall.
Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, co-founders of A&M Records, will receive a lifetime achievement award in the non-performer category.
Inductees in the side-men category have yet to be announced.
Musicians, industry professionals and journalists vote on the nominations. Artists are eligible for the Rock Hall after at least 25 years have passed since the release of their first album.
The 2005 inductees included Buddy Guy, the Pretenders, U2, the O’Jays and Percy Sledge. Among the music legends previously inducted are Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones.
This year, the Rock Hall is for the first time offering the general public an opportunity to attend the induction ceremony. A raffle will be held at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland for four sets of two tickets. For more information, visit the organization’s website at rockhall.com.
