Mariah Carey cleaned up at the third annual Vibe Awards in Los Angeles last night, going home with four awards including Artist of the Year, R&B Voice of the Year, Best R&B Song for “We Belong Together” and Album of the Year for “The Emancipation of Mimi.”

But even more notably, the awards show went off without a hitch, and was a far cry from the brawl and stabbing that marked last year?s festivities. While there was heightened security, with metal detectors and police on hand, the atmosphere was peaceful and music remained the focus.

Other noteworthy award winners include Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, son of Bob Marley, whose reggae hit “Welcome to Jamrock” won the Boomshot Award honouring Caribbean music, and Mary J. Blige, who was presented with the VLegend award, in honour of her 15-year career.
