Homer Simpson, Rockers named Top Men
Socrates ? John Locke ? Homer Simpson?
The American cartoon dad and shameless donut lover has been named philosopher of the decade in the list of the Top 10 Men of the Decade in Britain?s Men?s Health magazine.
“Homer taught a generation how to take on the challenge of modern fatherhood and win – although not always with honour,? said magazine editor Morgan Rees, according to The Canadian Press.
Each man represented a different area of human endeavour. Blur frontman Damon Albarn was named the decade?s top musician, while fellow rocker Bob Geldof was named top activist for his work in founding Live Aid/8.
U.S. cycling champion Lance Armstrong was named top sportsman, Britian’s TV chef Jamie Oliver was No. 1 cook and Jonathon Ive, creator of the iPod, was named top visionary of the decade.
The list was compiled by a panel of experts for the tenth anniversary of Men’s Health magazine.
“These are people of real substance and solid achievement rather than temporary fame,? said Rees.
“The people on our list have used their talents to change the world around them, rather than just to draw attention to themselves.”
