Morgan Freeman and Usher to share role
Usher is in talks to play an assassin – and Morgan Freeman.
The multiplatinum singer who just turned 27 will share a character with the 68-year-old Oscar-winning actor in an unnamed action suspense movie. Usher will play the younger version of Freeman.
“I sat with Morgan Freeman to talk about a script that he put together for both of us,” Usher told MTV News. He wouldn’t reveal the title of the film, but confirmed that the project was brought to him by Freeman himself. The film will likely begin production next year.
Freeman intends to direct, and Usher said the opportunity to share a role with him is “the greatest compliment of my life. He’s such a graceful person. He’s such a wonderful individual.”
Usher’s scenes are set in Cuba in the 1960s. “It’s a very, very, very cool script,” he enthused. “The type of script that you would want to have yourself involved in – a character that I’ve never seen, that I could never identify with.”
Usher returns to the screen next month with the mafia comedy In the Mix.
