Nelly Furtado will star in an independent drama called “Nobody’s Hero.”

The movie, which will begin production later this year, will also star Brad Renfro and David O’Hara.

The film focuses on a young soldier who returns from Iraq and tries to readapt to life. Furtado will play an American Muslim who confronts the soldier, her love interest, to confront his past.

Shooting begins in Vancouver in early November and will then move on to London. The film may be complete as soon as the middle of next year.

Jason Lehel is tapped to direct the film.
