Oasis, Gorillaz Win Big at Q Awards

Oasis and Gorillaz nabbed two awards each at the 2005 Q Awards, which brought the who?s who in British music together under the roof of London?s Grosvenor House Hotel on Monday.

Oasis, who led with five nominations, won for Best Album (?Don?t Believe the Truth?) and People?s Choice.

Virtual band Gorillaz, co-founded by Blur frontman Damon Albarn, picked up the trophies for Best Video (?Feel Good Inc.?) and Best Producer, which Albarn shared with Danger Mouse for the album ?Demon Days.?

Other winners of the night included KT Tunstall for her single ?Black Horse And The Cherry Tree,? James Blunt for Best New Artist, and Coldplay, who picked up Aloud.com?s coveted award for Best Act In The World Today.

Yoko Ono received a standing ovation as she accepted the Q Special Award on behalf of the late John Lennon, one day after what would have been his 65th birthday.

Ono was later seen chatting with Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, a self-confessed Beatles and Lennon fanatic.

?I love this woman,? said Gallagher afterwards, according to monstersandcritics.com. ?I love Yoko. Every time I see her I just want to give her a hug and protect her.”

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to The Bee Gees, while Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin was honoured with the Icon Award.
