Ashlee Simpson?s SNL performances this past Saturday went smoothly, proving herself worthy after last year’s lip-synch fiasco.

Simpson, 21, opened up with her song ?Catch Me When I Fall,? which she wrote after her last SNL appearance she said.

She belted out the song with only the help of an echo effect on her vocal in the chorus.

After the song was done, Simpson did a little hop of relief and smiled.

For her second performance, Simpson sang the single ?Boyfriend? off her new album “I Am Me.” A back-up singer accompanied her.

The brave singer came back and gave it another shot after being humiliated when she was caught lip-synching to the wrong song on the show last year, while a pre-recorded version of her hit ?Pieces of Me? was played.

“Thank you so much!” she said at the end of a successful night, blowing a kiss to the audience.
