A Scientology Birth for Holmes
The soon-to-be parents, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, will follow the Scientology guidelines and Holmes will give a “silent birth.”
Holmes, 27, who starting dating Cruise, 43, in April is three months pregnant.
The church’s “silent birth” guidelines during delivery include such rules as no music and no talking during the birth, which also means no screaming during labour.
What’s worse, Holmes is not allowed any drugs to help her through. This is based on the notion that any noise made during its emergence will scare and scar the child for life.
The doctrine also states that newborns cannot be poked or prodded for medical tests or even spoken to for the first seven days of their lives. This is because babies go through so much pain during the birth, they shouldn’t have to experience any further discomfort or sensory experience that could return later in life to haunt them, reports msnbc.com.
Dedicated Scientologists John Travolta and Kelly Preston are urging Katie Holmes to have a “silent birth” when she has her baby.
When speaking of the process Preston said, “It’s just because everything in moments of pain is really recorded and you want to have that (the birth) peaceful and clear of sort of suggestions or different words that can then affect them in their future,? reports Ananova.com.
Preston tried to give a “silent birth” to daughter Ella Bleu and managed 13 hours of labour before demanding Travolta to get her drugs for the pain, Preston tells Redbook magazine.
Holmes is due to give birth next year. This will be her first child and his first biological child. Cruise already has two adopted children, Connor, 10, and Isabella, 12, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman.
