Russel Crowe wants people to stop giving his wife sympathy looks just because she’s married to him.

Fans in Australia apparently think Danielle Spencer is a saint for putting up with the actor, 41, who is notorious for a bad attitude and even worse behaviour – he was arrested earlier this year for throwing a telephone at a hotel employee.

“My wife is heartily sick of the dour-faced, sad-eyed looks that people give her on the street and she sometimes wishes she could take every one of those people aside and tell them how fabulous her life is, how much joy her husband gives her and how focused on her he is,” Crowe said.

“I am obviously a complicated, messy, psychologically damaged weirdo,” he once stated in a TV interview. “That is the fundamental requirement for my job.”
