Apple today confirmed that it has shipped a small percentage of its new iPod Nano product with a cracked screen.

The iPod Nano was introduced earlier this month as a replacement for the iPod Mini.

Users who have purchased a unit that has a cracked screen can contact Apple for a free replacement. Apple has ensured that only a handful of units appear to have suffered from this issue and that it is not a design issue.

The iPod Nano is available in 2GB and 4GB versions for US$199 and $249 respectively.
